Episode 1 (2/20/02)
Mariko goes to the beach with a friend. When a diver's body is found washed up on the shore, Mariko goes to work. She finds the regulator has been dislodged from his mouth, his mask is clouded over, and he has a large hole in one tooth.
Episode 2 (2/27/02)
A ceramic artist is found dead in his workshop. Mariko's examination determines the cause of death as a blow to the head. Judging from the opened safe in the room, police believe he was killed by a thief.
Episode 3 (3/6/02)
Mariko and her mother attend a dinner show at a hotel in which the main attraction is their spotlighted gardens. However, when the lights are turned on, there is a loud pop and the spotlights go out. Later, a body is found in the hotel pool.
Episode 4 (3/13/02)
A man is found dead on the grounds of a Shinto shrine. A jogging couple heard a baby crying and when they investigated, found a baby in a basket and the man lying dead beside it. A man's and a woman's shoeprints are found there.
Episode 5 (3/20/02)
A man falls to his death from the 7th floor of a building under construction. Mariko feels there's little chance of foul play, but Inspector Koba seems to have his doubts. Mariko later finds out that the dead man had once worked with Koba.
Episode 6 (3/27/02)
The Forensics Department is ordered to clear a women's dorm of a hospital of spirits. Although indignant over this assignment, Mariko has no choice but to follow orders since the director of the hospital is a friend of the Kyoto Police Chief's.
Episode 7 (4/3/02)
The chairman of the Neighborhood Board finds a man stabbed to death in a park near Mitsuko's home. Mariko finds the man died of a neck wound. The chairman claims to have seen the victim struggling with another man before being stabbed.
Episode 8 (4/10/02 & 4/17/02)
(Final Episode in 2 Parts) A freelance journalist dies after being hit by a car. An autopsy reveals a bullet in his stomach, but there are no signs of an entry wound. Tests on the bullet find that it came from a police gun stolen six years ago. Curious, Mariko goes to talk to Natsuko, the policewoman who had lost that gun. While chasing a mobster involved in illegal firearm sales, six years ago, Natsuko fired a shot which pierced his left chest, killing him instantly. Although it was ruled as self defense, Natsuko's career came to a screeching halt. Mariko reenacts the chase and shooting, and comes to a surprising conclusion.
