Following on the heels of the popular drama series, "Say You Love Me," KIKU-TV brings to Hawaii yet another touching drama about the challenges of the hearing-impaired, "Heaven's Coins." This series features a young, hearing-impaired nurse named Aya (Sakai Noriko) who works at a small clinic in Hokkaido's outback. Aya's troubles begin when the man who promises to marry her gets amnesia after falling down an escalator. Her world gets even more complicated by the manipulative people around her.

The title of this series derives from that of a Brothers Grimm tale. Aya, who is deaf, works as an assistant at a tiny clinic in Hokkaido's outback. She was orphaned at a young age and was raised by Morioka, the clinic's elderly head doctor.

Episode 1
Aya loves Shuichi, a good-hearted young doctor, and is intensely jealous of all his female patients. However, she is warned by Morioka that Shuichi will eventually return to Tokyo. Morioka suddenly dies, giving Shuichi the opportunity to leave. Just before boarding the plane, he tells Aya that he will soon be back to marry her....

Episode 2
When Shuichi fails to return to Hokkaido, Aya flies to Tokyo to look for him. By coincidence she meets Takumi, Shuichi's half-brother, and learns that Shuichi is hospitalized, suffering from amnesia. To remain as close to him as possible, Aya takes a job as an attendant at that hospital.

Episode 3
Shuichi's rehabilitation begins, and Shoko, the woman responsible for the accident, comes between him and Aya. Takumi pursues Aya in earnest, seeing her as a woman who is totally different from any of his "conquests." But, he is dejected when Aya breaks a date to be with Shuichi.

Episode 4
A patient tries to commit suicide by jumping off the roof of the hospital, but is saved by Takumi's quick thinking. Later, when the same patient has a seizure, Shuichi, who still has amnesia, is the only one who can help him.

Episode 5
Shuichi flies to Hokkaido with Shoko, in order to find out what happened to him during his two blank years. Meanwhile, Takumi is glum when he is criticized for being away from his station and unavailable when an emergency situation arose. Unbeknownst to Shuichi, Takumi, or their father, secretive actions are being taken to take over the hospital.

Episode 6
A hematoma is discovered in Shuichi's brain, and Miwa is slated to operate on him. Komori tries to talk her into seeing that the surgery fails, but she refuses. Meanwhile, Takumi asks his father to allow him to perform the surgery. Komori, who believes Takumi is bound to fail, encourages Seiichiro to give Takumi a chance.

Episode 7
Takumi is in seventh heaven after his surgery on Shuichi is successful. Seiichiro, he and Miwa are scheduled to operate on Arai together. Miwa, who has been ordered by Komori to sabotage the surgery, is very nervous. Meanwhile, Aya decides to return to Hokkaido, for Shuichi's sake.

Episode 8
Arai comes out of surgery in a coma. Shuichi asks Aya for help when Takumi goes on a drinking binge. Shuichi feels cornered when he learns that his father is in the final stages of cancer. Meanwhile, Yuuki Takako turns out to be Shoko's mother. She talks Shuichi into marrying Shoko.

Episode 9
Komori tries to get Aya to tell him and Takako about her relationship with Shuichi when he was in Hokkaido, but cautious of Shuichi's position, Aya denies anything intimate. Sonoko, who knows Aya's true feelings, later breaks down and tells Shuichi everything. Meanwhile, Aya is attacked by Ayumi, who's in love with Takumi.

Episode 10
Shuichi works frantically to save Aya after she is stabbed. During the operation, he begins to regain his memory. Aya is saved, but Takumi sneaks her out of her hospital room. Shuichi pursues them and declares he will break off his engagement with Shoko and marry Aya. Despondent when she hears this, Shoko attempts suicide.

Episode 11
When Shuichi goes to formally call off his engagement to Shoko, she throws another wrench into the works when she informs him that she is pregnant. Shuichi, Takumi and their father successfully operate on Arai, to bring him out of his vegetative state.

Episode 12 Final Episode.
Shoko is about to have an abortion performed when Aya rushes in to stop her. Afraid, for the sake of the baby, Aya decides to forget Shuichi. On Shuichi and Shoko's wedding day, Aya disappears after leaving a note at the hospital. Sonoko and Arai find her attempting to drown herself. Aya finally decides to return to Hokkaido. Shuichi pursues her, ready to give up his career and new wife...
