Fujita Makoto returns as Detective Yasuura in all new episodes of Hagure Keiji, now in its 14th season. This veteran detective has won the hearts of millions of viewers in Japan and America, with his laid-back style and sympathetic heart. Fujita Makoto is joined by regulars including Umemiya Tatsuo, Kane Kosugi, Bonchi Osamu, Shimada Junji, and Okamoto Rei.

Episode Synopses

Episode 1
(In two parts) Sensing someone looking at him, Yasuura glances around and finds a woman staring at him. She seems somehow familiar, but he can't place her. Later, he receives a call from a woman whispering, "Help me." When he finally places the face, as that of the sister of a fellow Police Academy graduate, whom he hasn't seen in 30 years, he learns that she may be somehow connected to a murder under investigation.

Episode 2
A woman is found dead in her living room. Although the crime scene was made to look like a burglary-gone-wrong, the killer was apparently someone known to the victim. Her hairdresser comes under suspicion, but a witness reports seeing a commercial truck parked nearby.

Episode 3
Yasuura comes across two men and a woman arguing at a karaoke box. The next morning, the body of one of the men is found in the stairwell of his condo. According to the woman Tsuyama was with the night before, he was the spoiled son of the owner of the major department that he worked for.

Episode 4
An elderly man complains to the police that he has been swindled out of 3 million yen he had invested in a venture firm. Meanwhile, a man is found murdered in a park. Beside him is a blood-spattered photo of a smiling woman.

Episode 5
Homes recently cleaned by a part-time housekeeper have been broken into, one after another. Her daughter confesses to committing the crimes along with her boyfriend. That boy is killed one night, in his own apartment. Before his death, he had told his friends that he was going to do something big.

Episode 6
When Detective Noda discovers that the woman he once had a crush on is working near his precinct, he goes to see her. He hurries after her when he learns that she's left for the day. When he catches up to her, he is attacked by a man with a metal bat.

Episode 7
One day, Chizuko, a street vendor, sells Yasuura a book of her poems. A man is later found killed with a letter opener. Yasuura spots Chizuko among the bystanders. Police discover that the man had been stalking a member of his staff.

Episode 8
A woman is found dead in her boutique. When asked for an alibi, after initially lying, her husband says he spent the night with a female college friend who is visiting. Yasuura is surprised to find that she is someone with whom he is acquainted.

Episode 9
A bar madam is found murdered. Her last customer was Hasegawa, a washed-up comedian. When his fingerprints are found on her necklace, Hasegawa confesses that he tried to strangle her, but did not kill her.

Episode 10
A member of Haruko's gardening class is found dead, after falling from her veranda. On the veranda, police find soil in which lobelia had apparently been planted, but there is no sign of a lobelia plant.

Episode 11
Midori has her 300,000 yen designer handbag snatched. Police expect her family to be well-to-do, but they discover a family struggling to make ends meet. Midori sees someone with her bag at the hospital where she is staying.

Episode 12
Kawabe and Yasuura are at a loss for words when a woman shows up at the precinct offices to complain of the negligence of the police department. Not much later, she is found dead, probably killed by someone with a grudge.

Episode 13
Sumiko is found dead a the foot of her stairs. Her husband believes she was killed by one of the tenants in his commercial building that he was having problems with. Minami, an old partner of Yasuura's, and now head of forensics, comes to his aid.

Episode 14
Yasuura helps a young woman find a job. She has had several jobs, but not lasted very long at each. Chief Yokomizo suggests a little tavern he knows. However, not long after she starts working there, she is accused of stealing a customer's wallet.

Episode 15
Businesswoman Nobue is found dead in her office. Police want to question the last person she was with the night before. Maki denies knowledge of the murder, and says that she bumped into a man entering Nobue's office as she was leaving.

Episode 16
A woman who complained to the police once about a noisy vendor is found dead. The vendor's car was spotted nearby about the time she was killed, but a close friend of the dead woman's provides him with an alibi. Yasuura finds this suspicious.

Episode 17
The body of the manager of a discount shop in discovered in his office. According to his employees, he had no vices except for one--women. Sanae had been the latest object on his unwanted attentions, but she swears she had nothing to do with his death.

Episode 18
A burglar is killed in a home he broke into. The owners find him when they return home from a trip. What's more, they also discover 5 million yen missing. They and the police are baffled by a bed that's been slept in, an extra pair of slippers, and an alarm clock.

Episode 19
Yasuura comes upon mariko, a former prostitute whom he had straightened out 15 years before. After taking advantage of yasuura's kindness, she disappears, leaving a young girl behind. When sekine is found dead, police find a connection between him and mariko.

Episode 20
The foreman at a construction site is found dead in his office. It appears that he hit his head on a steel cabinet after a fierce struggle. Police begin a hunt for uchimura, a construction worker who was spotted running away from the office about the time of the crime.

Episode 21
Takeishi is found dead. According to staff member toda, takeishi had left the tavern where they had been drinking, determined to set things straight with the supposed boyfriend of the woman he'd been trying to propose to.

Episode 22
A man's body is found in a park. An empty man's wallet is found in a trash can nearby. Fingerprints on the wallet are identified as belonging to sakuma, a man arrested previously by minami for larceny. Investigations reveal that the victim had been left standing at the altar.

Episode 23
Reiko's husband finds her murdered in their home. He is puzzled by the bean jam cakes on the table; his wife was on a diet. The wife of the cake shop owner claims to have been friends with Reiko, but according to neighbors, Reiko had been warning people away from that shop. She had also carried on an affair with her dance instructor.

Two-Hour Special
Miyuki is found stabbed to death in a park in Tokyo. A strange man holding a doll was seen in the area around the time of the murder. Yasuura finds the injuries on the back of the victim's hand puzzling. When a young girl comes to lay some flowers on the spot where Miyuki was found, Yasuura follows her home. The girl's parents deny any knowledge of Miyuki, but the man with the doll soon lead police investigators back to the girl's father...
