Episode 1
A man tosses a million yen from atop an overpass. Sugita explains that it was his severance pay, and now he wants it back. Actually, the money was half that amount. Sugita, an inveterate gambler, was trying to gain sympathy, and hopefully, more money from the public.
Episode 2
A girl Noda secretly has a crush on, falls from a pedestrian overpass. Witness accounts point to an attempted suicide, but Noda is skeptical. The girl's story and that of her boyfriend do not match, although they do agree it was attempted suicide.
Episode 3
Maeda is found murdered. According to Yuriko, who saw him prior to his being killed, there was nothing strange about his behavior. Investigations reveal that Maeda had a prior arrest record for theft. What's more, his partner in crime is Yuriko's fiance.
Episode 4
Kawamata, who works for a dry cleaner's, has been killed. Witnesses finger Matsuda, who owns a rival cleaning firm. Both men were crazy over a stripper named Mary. Could Matsuda and Mary have killed the over-zealous Kawamata? Then again, it could have been Mary's fiance.
Episode 5
Maki has lost 300,000 yen to a purse snatcher. She and her husband run a shop specializing in potstickers, but business has been poor. The robber is caught, but the money is gone. Yasuura goes with a heavy heart to report this to the couple, but is suprised to see business humming there.
Episode 6
A man is found dead in the street near the Yasuura home. Although police first suspect a hit-and-run, and autopsy finds that he had suffered a heart attack before sustaining his injuries. Investigators find traces of blood on the stairs at a nearby park.
Episode 7
Yasuura becomes acquainted with a young female comic duo who are trying to break into the entertainment world. Tamako and Chika help him to apprehend a robber. Later, while in the process of investigating a murder, Yasuura runs into Tamako...
Episode 8
Yamamura, the manager of a tavern, has been killed. Kawata, was seen standing over him with a bloody knife. He denies killing Yamamura, even though he hated him. He's the prime suspect, but police begin receiving calls from a woman saying he is innocent.
Episode 9
Honma is found dead in an empty lot. Police search his room and find his tv on and his wallet safe. Lab tests show that he has tissue from a person with Type A blood under his nails. A background check turns up a history of violence toward women. Was he killed by one of his victims?
Episode 10
Tanimura, a train conductor, is found dead in a park. It appears he was struck on the head twice. Tanimura had been written up as something of a hero in the papers, so his co-worker Izawa had invited him out for drinks. Tanimura was killed after they had parted for the night.
Episode 11
Det. Satomi gets an anonymous call claiming that his stepson, Yusuke, has injured a school teacher. He rushes off to school, but the officials try to play it down, saying it was just an accident. Satomi comes down hard on Yusuke, but he later learns that Yusuke was framed.
Episode 12
Lt. Kawabe is shocked when Uchiyama, a classmate from his English Language School, is killed in the apartment of their instructor, Saeki. The widow berates Kawabe since it was his praise of Saeki that made Uchiyama trust Saeki.
Episode 13
A man with blood on his hands collides with Det. Noda when he comes running out of a house. Detectives discover a woman who has been stabbed to death in the house. Then they find a pair of bloody scissors in the man's pocket.
Episode 14
Detective Yasuura and Haruko come to the aid of a woman who is being threatened and harangued by a bill collector. That bill collector is later found dead of stab wounds that seem to have been inflicted by a pair of sewing shears.
Episode 15
The owner of a coffee shop is found dead in her shop. Police question her close friend Imura, but he swears he's innocent. Asked about anything unusual he might have noticed, he says the bus stop had been moved about 500 meters away that day.
Episode 16
The police get a call from a woman who claims that Detective Yasuura stabbed someone. When Yasuura introduces himself to the woman at the crime scene, she is confused because the Yasuura she knew was much younger.
Episode 17
Nakajima, the president of a real estate agency is found dead after an apparent struggle. Suspicion falls on a young woman who owns a photography studio. Nakajima had visited her to demand payment on a loan.
Episode 18
A woman gets pushed down some stairs. Police don't suspect a murder attempt, but the victim insists on having a bodyguard being assigned to her. Asked if she had any enemies, the victim comes up with a list of 10 names!
Episode 19
The body of Natsuko, a nightclub hostess, is found in her apartment. The woman next door recognized the man she saw running out of that apartment as a frequent visitor that Natsuko called "Ryo-chan." Police use her cell phone to track down the man.
Episode 20
17-year-old Mai lures a man into a bar where he loses the entire contents of his wallet. When questioned by the police, she claims ignorance. The victim was too drunk to remember much more than that the manager's hair had been dyed.
Episode 21
Shinohara, a chef at a French restaurant is found dead of an apparent fall from his apartment window. For some reason, he died with a smile on his face. There are two tea cups in his room, one with lipstick on it. Two sisters come under suspicion.
Episode 22
The elderly owner of a candy shop is found unconscious in her room. Police find a damaged vending machine in front of her shop with its alarm blaring. Yasuura decides to mind the shop, think he could get some sort of lead. Police suspect Sho and his mother.
Episode 23
One morning, Yasuura sees a young boy throw a bag with a dog in it, into a pond. He saves the dog and has it taken to an animal shelter. The woman who picks up the dog seems to recognize him, and she admonishes Yasuura to do something about those who perpetrate cruelty to animals.
Episode 24
The body of Kakinuma, a salesman, is discovered in a river. He was either struck from behind, or hit his head when he slipped and fell into the river. Police discover that 5 million yen had recently been withdrawn from his savings account.
Episode 25 - In two parts
The body of an elderly man is discovered. He had been seen standing every day near Ikebukuro Station with a dog, as though waiting for someone to appear. Staking out the station with the dog, Yasuura notices that the dog reacts to a woman, but he loses sight of her in the crowd. Police discover that the man had come to Tokyo from Aomori in order to find someone possibly connected to an assault case there. Haruko travels to Aomori to try to piece together the story.
