The ever-popular "detective with heart" is back in all-new episodes of Hagure Keiji! For the 12th season, Fujita Makoto reprises his role as Detective Yasuura, who seems inept but always manages to capture the criminal by following his hunches and his heart.

Episode Synopses

Episode 1A
A boy is caught shoplifting from a convenience store and Yasuura, who happened to be shopping there himself, intervenes and pays for the stolen food. He learns that the boy is Ryota and that he was stealing food for his younger sister and sickly mother. Just about that time, a travel agency employee is found dead with a knife stuck in his back. Part 1 of a two-part episode.

Episode 1B
Yasuura takes an interest in Ryota and Nagisa who have been living with their mother Ritsuko in an abandoned apartment. But Ritsuko is taken into custody for questioning about the travel agent murder, and the children are sent to a state facility. When the children run away, Yasuura has his hands full trying to capture the murderer as well as two runaway kids.

Episode 2
Matsushita, who's just been released from prison, robs a convenience store and runs off. Believing he's likely to try to meet up with his old girlfriend, the police put a tail on her. However, the police find her very elusive...

Episode 3
Yasuura happens to be there when a woman comes tottering out of a park and collapses, and some young boys flee the scene. The woman suffers from trauma to her head, but tests show the boys were probably not responsible.

Episode 4
Machiko is found dead in her office. A woman was seen leaving furtively from Machiko's door the night before. The prime suspect is a woman who quit the company after losing a power battle to Machiko, and ended up driving a taxi for a living.

Episode 5
A man with a previous murder conviction is killed. His victim had had a fiancee who is now Yasuura's piano teacher. All the evidence in the current case seems to point to her. What's more, although she is now married, she is still close to her former fiance's family.

Episode 6
An elderly man is killed. Police find a newspaper in his apartment, with the winning lottery number cut out, and no lottery ticket to be found. When Yasuura goes to question a nearby restaurant owner, he notices someone peeking in the window.

Episode 7
Uehara dies after a fall. A child's umbrella lies nearby. Although he was scheduled to marry Mie in three days, detectives find that he had been seeing Sachiko, a divorcee. What's more, the umbrella belonged to Sachiko's daughter.

Episode 8 (5/3/02)
A woman is found bludgeoned to death. Red ink is spattered everywhere. The woman who discovered the body has red ink on her hands, but she doesn't know where she got it. Lt. Kawabe in convinced she's guilty, but Yasuura has his doubts.

Episode 9 (5/10/02)
Escort-for-hire Konno is found dead in a hotel room. Police find a cheap earring and a necktie nearby. Konno had gone drinking with Yukiko that night. She claims that they parted after they left the shop, but the earring found at the scene is identified as hers.

Episode 10 (5/17/02)
Murai's body is found on the pavement near a trash collection site. Since the area had been plagued by pranksters removing covers protecting the trash from crows, Yasuura decides to stake out the collection site.

Episode 11 (5/23/02)
Inui, the Merchandising Manager of a supermarket dies in a fall off a building. Besides working fulltime, he has cared for his bedridden wife for a dozen years. A witness claims to have heard someone call out his name just before he jumped.

Episode 12 (5/30/02)
Yamagishi, the bookkeeper at a supermarket, is knocked unconscious and the receipts are stolen. He’s taken to the hospital, but his injury is minor. Police suspect an inside job. When they discover that Yamagishi is heavily in debt, he becomes the prime suspect.

Episode 13 (6/6/02)
Muranaka, a taxi driver is found stabbed to death. His bank account shows that he was receiving deposits of 50,000 yen, monthly, from 12 people. Police suspect Muranaka had been blackmailing them.

Episode 14 (6/13/02)
Onuki is found dead. A button from a woman’s blouse is found at the crime scene. Pictures developed from a roll of film found there lead police to Kyoko, a woman who says she and Onuki were just friends.

Episode 15 (6/20/02)
The food at an okonomiyaki shop is discovered to be tainted with boric acid. Shoji, the owner of the shop suspects Kyoko, his one-time girlfriend. Kyoko denies the allegations, but seems to be fixated on Shoji.

Episode 16 (6/27/02)
Kawakami, who has been treating people with popular folk remedies, is found killed. A woman in a polka-dot dress was seen getting on the elevator. Police believe he might have been killed by a disgruntled patient,

Episode 17 (7/4/02)
Seiko, an employee at a print shop is killed in a park. In her bag is a sample of the wedding invitation ordered by a distant relative. The police find a taxi driver who picked up a woman with an injury near the site.

Episode 18 (7/11/02)
Ueshima is found dead. Investigations discover that he was one of the men involved in a post office heist the week before. Police suspect his good friend Asai was an accomplice, but his alibi seems airtight.

Episode 19 (7/18/02)
500,000 yen is stolen out of a locker at a public bath. Police suspect Hatsuko, the proprietor, who gives half-hearted answers to their questions. They discover she is having trouble repaying a loan.

Episode 20 (7/25/02)
Weekly magazine writer Okita, who had been deceiving women, is found dead. Yasuura finds a ring with the initials "T.S." under the corpse. Investigation reveals that there were several people with those initials in Okita's life.

Episode 21 (8/1/02)
An elderly woman's purse, which contained 1.37 million yen, is snatched. A few days later, most of her missing money is mysteriously returned, but while the woman demands justice, a dead body is found in her apartment building.

Episode 22 (8/8/02)
Tanaka, a bank officer, has plunged down the stairs to his death. At the top of the stairway is a barbershop where he was discussing a loan with the female proprietor. A man with a missing finger had been seen in the area.

Episode 23 (8/15/02)
Miyata has committed suicide...or was he murdered? Yasuura finds out that the woman seen with Miyata on the night of his death has a scandalous past involving Miyata's son.

Episode 24 (8/22/02)
Tomiko, an elderly woman is killed in her hospital room. At the time of her death, the nurses had been busy with a dying cancer patient one floor above, and noticed nothing. Police discover that Tomiko had been operating a moneylending business on the side.

Episode 25 (8/29/02)
Aiko, a realtor, is killed with a golf putter. The chief suspect is Murayama, who had problems in his dealings with Aiko. Murayama admits to pushing Aiko, but not to hitting her with a putter. Business cards in Aiko's desk point to a second identity.

Episode 26 (9/5/02)
An unidentified man is found dead. Yasuura and Haruko recognize him as the man they happened to see hurriedly leaving a funeral. Police discover that his name is "Hayakawa Tamotsu," but can find no official record of his existence.

Episode 27 (9/12/02 & 9/19/02) Shown in 2 parts
Kimura, a public prosecutor, is found dead. His bank records show that for 18 years, he had been paying Mishima 150,000 yen monthly. Was he being blackmailed? Investigations show that Mishima had been working at an inn in Izu-Nagaoka 18 years ago. At that time, Kimura had been public prosecutor there. Around that time, a death was reported at the inn where Mishima was employed. Is there some connection?
