From the Heart (Kimiga oshiete kureta koto)
Tomosaka Rie and Kamikawa Takaya star in a drama about a woman with high-functioning autism, and a former psychiatrist suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) since the death of his sweetheart. Mayuko seems to see Shinichi as a kindred spirit. With his help, her ability to communicate and interact with other people improves and, meanwhile, their relationship seems to help Shinichi deal with his emotional scars.

Episode Synopses

Episode 1 (12/3/01)
Mayuko lives a very regulated life. She cannot bear for her routine to be upset. Her one exceptional talent seems to be the ability to predict the weather accurately. Walking in the rain one day, she is mesmerized by a pretty keychain dangling from someone's bag. It's owner saves her from certain injury when a bike comes speeding by. This is her first encounter with Shinichi.

Episode 2 (12/10/01)
Now that Mayuko realizes that she suffers from autism, she is determined to learn a skill that will be useful in society. Shinichi becomes attracted to Mayuko as a person. However, because she is unable to read the feelings of others, insignificant things cause friction between them.

Episode 3 (12/17/01)
Mayuko is excited about applying for a job at a weather-forecasting firm. However, her father tells her he's found her a job at a factory. There, she meets Misaki who, like her, suffers from autism. Her parents are sure that she would be happy there, but Mayuko refuses the job.

Episode 4 (12/24/01)
Mayuko gets a part-time job at the weather-forcasting firm. All of her experiences are new to her...from commuting, to going out to a restaurant for lunch. Determined to be independent, Mayuko doesn't share her problems with anyone. Shinichi tries to help her to cope.

Episode 5 (12/31/01)
The people at the office find out that Mayuko is autistic. They become uncomfortable when she's around, and Keiko's attitude towards her worsens. Shinichi discovers a change coming over him as he does his best to help Mayuko cope.

Episode 6 (1/14/02)
Although Shinichi had given up his profession after the death of his sweetheart, he decides to give Mayuko psychiatric counseling. His treatments bring to light a secret to Jun's birth. Mizushima begins investigating Shinichi's past.

Episode 7 (1/21/02)
Mayuko makes a mistake which gets her pulled off the job for a while. Her cat dies and, for the first time, she learns what "sadness" is. Having learned this, she comes to understand the pain in Shinichi's heart.

Episode 8 (1/28/02)
When Shinichi gives her a hug, she begins to think about what it means to hug and be hugged. She practices on her brother, but Shinichi teaches her that it's not the action, but the emotion that makes you want to hug someone, that's important.

Episode 9 (2/4/02)
Mayuko gradually begins to feel love for Shinichi. Knowing about Shinichi's past, and the patient that he fell in love with and lost, Mayuko's parents are strongly against them seeing each other. They steal away to an amusement park for a little diversion.

Episode 10 (2/11/02)
Mayuko's father collapses of a stroke. His hospital stay serves to strenghthen the ties among the family members. Shinichi tells Mayuko that it would be better if they never met again. Meanwhile, Rina begins to research Mizushima's background.

Episode 11 (2/18/02)
Mayuko regains her memory of an incident involving Mizushima, and she tries to escape his clutches. Rina tries to find the common point between Mizushima and the Amemiya family.

Episode 12 (2/25/02) Final Episode.
Weather World develops a system which should make it easier for Mayuko to do her work. Mayuko has taught herself many things, so that she will be able to utilize what she's learned from Shinichi. Shinichi is proud of her accomplishments, but at the same time, feels a bit left out.
