Two years ago, Satoshi saw a promising young painter. However, after the suicide of his fiercest rival, Masato, Satoshi gave up painting altogether. Now, he meets up with Sae, who was Masato's fiancee. For some reason, Satoshi seems to have great feelings of guilt concerning Masato. Sae encourages him to continue his painting

Episode 1
It's been two years since Sae's fiance Masato committed suicide, and she still hasn't gotten over it. Satoshi, who studied painting at the same studio as Masato, gave up painting to become an art teacher, soon after his death. One day, Sae and Satoshi meet for the first time in an art shop.
Episode 2
Sae's father collapses from exhaustion. Keiichi, the son of one his clients, offers financial help if Sae agrees to marry him. Meanwhile, Satoshi's feelings of guilt over Masato's death increase now that he's come to know Sae.
Episode 3
Sae agrees to marry Keiichi, but her friend Takako tries to talk her out of it. Sae says that she just "wants to find happiness." That night, the two girls sit drinking, and Sae decides to introduce Satoshi to Takako. Satoshi hurries over when he receives a call from Sae asking for help.
Episode 4
Sae asks Satoshi why he said he would make her happy. When Satoshi says nothing, she comes to the conclusion that he must have promised Masato. Satoshi lies and says he and Masato were friends. Meanwhile, Keiichi orders Toru to check on the connection between Satoru and Sae.
Episode 5
Satoshi begins painting using Sae as his model, but she has reservations about having to meet him in secret. Seeiing this, Ishiwaki advises her to stop modeling if she's not willing to return Satoshi's love. Meanwhile, Shoko becomes agitated when she learns that Keiichi will soon marry and tells him that she's pregnant.
Episode 6
Satoshi remains unconscious after defending Sae from a knife attack. Later, Satoshi comes to and tells Sae that he "wouldn't have minded if he had died." The words fall heavily on Sae's ears, and she vows to do anything to help Satoshi. Meanwhile, Sae's father Toshio learns the real reason behind the attack and cancel's Sae's engagement to Keiichi.
Episode 7
Keiichi tells Sae he would support her father's company if she would continue seeing him. Meanwhile, Toshio visits Satoshi and asks him to take care of his daughter. Later, Sae meets Satoshi who is leaving the hospital, but both are unable to express their feelings for each other. The following day, Satoshi vanishes.
Episode 8
Satoshi and Sae decide to live together. Unable to keep his secret to himself, Satoshi finally tells Sae's father. However, Toshio warns Satoshi not to breathe a word of it to Sae. Meanwhile, Keiichi stages a hostile takever of Aso Construction, and Toshio collapses in shock.
Episode 9
A week passes since Toshio's death. Keiichi becomes the new president, and Sae finds working there uncomfortable. A package which arrives for Sae from her deceased father turns out to be a wedding dress. Satoshi promises to continue painting for Sae's sake. However, he is later shocked to discover that Sae will lose all her property because of Keiichi.
Episode 10
After confessing to Sae the truth about his past, Satoshi returns to his hometown. Toru comes and tells Satoshi that he was doing Keiichi's bidding and that he should go back to Sae. At his mother's urging, Satoshi finally makes up his mind to return to Tokyo. However, while waiting for the train, Satoshi coughs up blood.
Episode 11
Sae meets Satoshi who was released from the hospital. Satoshi asks her to marry him, and the two finally consummate their love. However, Ishiwaki finds out from Satoshi's physician that he has only half a year to live. The following day, Ishiwaki learns that Sae and Satoshi are now lovers. He breaks the sad news to Sae, leaving her in utter shock.
Episode 12 - Final Episode
Keiichi learns of Satoshi's condition and promises to pay for his treatment if Sae would agree to marry him. However, Sae discovers her desire to stay with Satoshi to be overwhelming. Having finishing his painting, Satoshi realizes that he has doubts about his love for Sae and decides to return home without seeing her. Meanwhile, Sae stumbles across proof of Keiichi's corruption....
