Episode 1
Yoshimune is attacked by three assassins. Shots ring out, and the three men are killed. Hayato, Yoshimune's spy, goes after the shooters, but loses sight of them. Judging from recent events, Magistrate O'oka guesses there is trouble in Kishu, hometown of Yoshimune. In the guise of Tokuda Shinnosuke, Yoshimune goes to check things out.
Episode 2
Yoshimune travels back to Kishu with Eigoro when he hears that an old friend has fallen ill. When he gets there, he discovers that his friend isn't ill, but is being detained by officials who want him to commit harakiri for killing his father, who was leader of the Tanabe Clan.
Episode 3
Someone sets the Hanshu-ya storehouse on fire. Fortunately, the men of Megumi are able to put it out before much damage is done. Although the owner says nothing is missing, a cashbox is found lying in the street soon after.
Episode 4
The search is on for a new secretary for Yoshimune. There are three candidates, and Arima Hikoemon must make the selection. However, he is attacked and wounded by an arrow shot possibly by one of the candidates. Feeling responsible, Yoshimune vows to find the culprit.
Episode 5
A gang of thieves has been hitting some of the major businesses in Edo. Yoshimune runs into the gang one night and, with the help of the Megumi Squad, is able to capture most of them. When they are about to capture the leader, he grabs a woman passerby and uses her as a shield.
Episode 6
Oko's daughter is convinced that the hero of her favorite comic strip is actually Shinnosuke (Yoshimune). He takes her to meet the author of the strip, who turns out to be a curmudgeon. Meanwhile, Tadasuke is investigating a bribery case.
Episode 7
Yoshimune and Eigoro save a geisha who is being harassed by a group of drunken men. This leads to some interesting times for both men. Yoshimune is later approached by an ambitious man.
Episode 8
O'oka Tadasuke is enjoying drinks with Yoshimune and Eigoro, when the fire gong begins to sound. They rush off to the site of the fire, but while their attention is on the goings on, Yoshimune turns to see some men in black headed for O'oka's mansion.
Episode 9
Osaki, a seer, has captured the imagination of the people of Edo. Men and women looking for the right partner flock to her for help. Yoshimune discovers that Osaki and her brother are running a scam.
Episode 10
Final Episode. Yoshimune sends Hayato out to track the opium that has been spreading around Edo. Disguised as a ronin, Yoshimune pins down an ex-convict named Genta, who admits to selling, but not to bringing in the opium.
